UNICEF walk for the children of our world

Many Finnish children and young people help children in developing countries through UNICEF action every year. The most popular activity is the UNICEF Walk, which is an event for schools combining sports, education and fund-raising. The idea of the walk is to find sponsors who donate to UNICEF according to the distance completed - the more you walk or run, the more your sponsors donate!

This year we organized the fifth UNICEF walk in our school. On Thursday the 26th, 2009 all the pupils, teachers and student teachers walked in the neighbourhood of the school. Everybody tried to get a lot of camel stickers to his/her passport. Pupils donated the collected sum of money for the benefit of UNICEF. All funds raised will be used to support UNICEF programs for children in the poorest countries of the world, this year Tanzania.

This was a sunny, wonderful day. The UNICEF walk is an excellent way to help other children and promote tolerance and active participation at school.
